With support from the Group of Leverkusen Nicaragua Solidarity, Chinantlan Association is running educational programs that contribute to the promotion of reducing the transmission of STDs and HIV / AIDS. We do this, since the lack of knowledge of a part of the population is one of the factors contributing to the high prevalence of cases. The ignorance and taboo on this subject is predisposed to a lack of protection and leads to risky behavior, thereby increasing the incidence.

AIDS-tests in Chinandega

Since the year 2009 the project contains a new and important activity. Medical students from León are taking once a week aids-tests with volunteers going from house to house to take the tests. Each year the students select a different district of Chinandega for their investigations, who are analyzed afterwards in their university.Besides the tests the students also inform about the topics AIDS/VIH and sexual health. In 2010 took 1050 tests in the "Barrio" Divino Nino. In december, when all tests where taken, we presented the results in a meeting with all inhabitants of Divino Nino. Since 2010 we also have a cooperation with the Aidsgroup Leverkusen, Germany who supports us with materials and donantions.
