The climate change has caused a decline in the production of basic food like corn and rice in Nicaragua and especially in Chinandega. Chinantlan and the ministry of agriculture (MAGFOR) promote the formation and the operation of a commission for food safety in the community of Chinandega.

Food for everyone

Other organizations and institutions in Chinandega have joined the commission and are searching solutions to ensure the food safety for Chinandega. In the school year 2010 the ministry of education and Chinantlan began to create school gardens in primary schools of Chinandega. The commission support the gardens with technical knowledge and materials.
